Peepal Foundation began as the
brain-child of a few altruistically
inclined professionals from
different walks of life.

The mod­est begin­nings of Peepal Foun­da­tion in 2001 soon grew in both scope and out­reach, and we are proud to be where we are at the end of a decade, hav­ing impact­ed approx­i­mate­ly 35,000+ chil­dren and over 200 elder­ly indi­vid­u­als. From our hum­ble start as a day­care cen­tre (bal­wa­di) for chil­dren of con­struc­tion work­ers and labour­ers in Hadap­sar, we have expand­ed our efforts to serve var­i­ous com­mu­ni­ties across Pune, Mum­bai, and Lon­avla, becom­ing one of the most famous NGOs in India.

In 2007, we iden­ti­fied the crit­i­cal need for sus­tained inter­ven­tion in child edu­ca­tion and devel­op­ment, lead­ing us to ded­i­cate this year to Child Edu­ca­tion, Devel­op­ment, and Empow­er­ment (CEDE). Rec­og­niz­ing the vast need for qual­i­ty edu­ca­tion, we focused our efforts towards the edu­ca­tion of under­priv­i­leged chil­dren, posi­tion­ing us as a promi­nent edu­ca­tion NGO in Pune.

Our first Devel­op­ment Cen­tre (DC) received over­whelm­ing suc­cess, which inspired us to broad­en our approach. We for­mu­lat­ed a new mod­ule that focused on younger chil­dren, which led to the cre­ation of CEDE – a holis­tic approach to devel­op­ing a child’s per­son­al­i­ty, knowl­edge, and skills. This approach has been instru­men­tal in empow­er­ing chil­dren to become con­fi­dent indi­vid­u­als and reflects our com­mit­ment as one of the lead­ing NGOs in Maharashtra.
