CEDE stands for Child Education, Development and Empowerment

CEDE uses a three-pronged approach where it aims at -

  • Holistic development of children by coaching them on varied aspects of life, developing their overall individual personalities, enhancing their knowledge and work-life skills, so thet they are empowered to become confident and responsible individuals
  • Enabling teachers / change managers with the right tools and modern teaching techniques through a variety of ‘Teachers Training’ workshops.
  • Regular ‘Empowerment Workshops’ for parents, school authorities and teachers as well as change managers and volunteers who are important enablers in a child’s development process.

Our country has taken major strides economically and has even been successful in spreading education all across the country. The insane race to get a higher percentage in the exams has come at a heavy cost to the society. Character building, through the emphasis of traditionally valued ideals that make children good citizens of the country, has taken a backseat.  It’s time we recall the primary role and responsibility of educational institutions, which is character and nation-building, by retaining our ethnicity. This unhealthy trend needs to be reversed if India has to rise as a nation and acquire its due place in the world. Providing value-orientation in our educational system would most certainly curb this decline.

At Peepal, we undertook to understanding the challenge; created the curricula, developed and adapted innovative methods to introduce values and ethics among children.

Our humble attempt is to bridge this gap using a three pronged approach by introducing CEDE (Child Education, Development and Empowerment), a holistic developmental programme to enhance a child’s personality, knowledge and skills, thereby making him a confident and responsible individual; empowerment Workshops for teachers and parents; and enabling change managers and volunteers.

The CEDE programmeme aims to provide experiential learning using various interactive media such as fun learning activities, role-plays, mind-maps and innovative study techniques. The intervention is carried through by teachers (school), Change Managers (on a regular and honorarium basis) and volunteers (weekend workshops).

Our Change Managers and volunteers are essential external channels who help mould the personality of these children by introducing them to a variety of fun learning practices and by encouraging them to think out of the box. Our constant endeavor is to empower children with adequate knowledge and skills so that they enter the real world with confidence.

Provide a comprehensive, holistic programme for self-development of children as a separate module in schools.

Provide training to teachers and change managers to educate them about innovative and effective methods of classroom instruction that enhance learning and comprehension, using new techniques and teaching aids.

Empower various enablers in the developmental process by conducting relevant workshops for them at regular intervals.

Create a platform for the privileged people to connect with the lesser privileged and share their time, knowledge as well as skills. Also, ensure that younger children gain from the vast knowledge bank of the older generation by creating opportunities to bridge the generation gap through more interaction between them.

It’s a holistic programme for children which aims at developing their overall personality and making them more confident as well as responsible individuals.

The approach and methodology of execution.

Encourages the involvement of the privileged people to connect with the lesser privileged and share their time, knowledge as well as skills via volunteering, donations (individual / group / organization), sponsorship for CEDE programme of one or more children, annually.

Measuring the effectiveness through regular evaluation of students, including the overall programme.

CEDE is planned as programme of 55 hours all through the academic year, that’s integrated with the school curriculum, in co-ordination with the school authorities. It focuses on the development of the lesser privileged children with interventions of approximately 4 hrs / week coaching them in various skills through a variety of fun-learning media.

Regular Training programmes for Teachers are conducted throughout the academic year to  include not just teachers but even Change Managers as well as interested volunteers.

Quarterly empowerment workshops are held for Parents and other enablers who are integral in the children’s development process.

‘Change Managers’ are specially appointed volunteers to teach the CEDE Methodology. They coach children during the week (Monday through Saturday). They are responsible for adding value to the CEDE programme by coordinating with the schools and the core team at Peepal Foundation by ensuring regular assessments and sharing feedback for improvement of programme.
